Why I Blog

Why I Blog

There are so many food blogs that I wondered for a long time if I should make my own. I am not a chef and I do not work in a professional kitchen, but I love how blogging and sharing recipes give me the ability to try a variety of recipes that come from so many different perspectives. So why not add one more perspective to the mix?

I also started this blog to keep track of my favorite recipes and share them with anyone wanting to try them. Some of them are mine or are passed down from family and some are inspired by my favorite bloggers or chefs. I like to show as many pictures as I can take without my two kids interfering with the food or camera. I don't fancy myself as a photographer, but I have fun doing it and I hope the pictures show a glimpse of how great the food really tastes.

A little bit about me: I was raised in an Italian Canadian/American family. My dad was born in Sicily and immigrated to Canada. My mother was born near Chicago. I have lived in both Chicago and Ontario, Canada. My father worked in the restaurant business for many years and was a very inventive cook. He came from a family who had a love of food and most of my memories dealing with his side of the family include sitting at a table and eating. My mother's food is to die for. I honestly believe it's because she puts love into it somehow. She is less inventive than my dad but she loves to try new recipes and is an expert at making classic Italian food.

I studied nutrition as my minor in college where I squeezed in a couple of cooking classes. I love food science and read all sorts of nerdy things about food and nutrition in my spare time. After my college years were over, I married my husband, who loves to cook as well. I now have two hungry kids who are glad to gobble down most of my cooking and all of my baking. I get to be a stay at home mom and I live in the beautiful state of Utah.

So here are my recipes to share. Enjoy!

PS: I also love reading other food blogs, so if you have a food blog, please post a link in the comments and I'll be sure to check it out.
